The Prinny is a relatively weak class in terms of Aptitudes and Evilities. Its Evilities don't really help it in battle, and actually require the Prinny to be hit with certain ailments (which actually puts it in more danger). Its Aptitudes, unlike other monsters, will increase by 5% per every tier, gaining 25% in all aptitudes upon reaching its final Tier. This still leaves it just below average across the board, with slightly higher SP, HIT, and SPD, and slightly lower HP and INT.
The Prinny's main saving grace involves the S-Rank skill 'Prinny Fusilade', which it gains later on. As an S-Rank ability, it can deal high damage, and has a range of 4 squares, making it useful for taking down targets from afar. Additionally, as in all previous games, Prinnies explode when they're thrown, and while this means they cannot easily be moved around the map, it can be used as a last resort to cause wide-area damage to a group of enemies (an AoE of two spaces in every direction). Chaining multiple Prinnies together enhances this effect, although the cost of losing multiple units is generally not worth it.
In the early game, the Prinny makes excellent cannonfodder; a mass-produced unit that players don't mind losing to block an enemy's advancement or otherwise distract them while they enact their strategy. In the late game however, it can be difficult to justify their use to any serious ends, although if one focuses solely on maxing out their HP growth as much as possible, they may retain their usefulness as a portable bomb.
