A Prinny in Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance.

This page is about the Prinny monster class. For the Prinny race in general, see Prinny.

The Prinny is a recurring monster class in the Disgaea series first introduced in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. Prinnies appear in all Disgaea games as a generic monster class. Each tier is named after a military rank.

Gameplay[]

Prinnies are always one of the first monster classes available, and are outright the first one available in most games. In addition, in all games other than Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, players start out with at least one Prinny in their party, randomly named by the game.

They tend to have decent attack, but lower Intelligence and Defense. They can also be used as disposable bombs due to them exploding when thrown.

Prinnies commonly have the ability to be fully restored for 1 HL. In Disgaea: Hour of Darkness and Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, all Prinnies can be restored for 1 HL at the hospital, while in later games, an Evility can be acquired for a Prinny that provides the effect, which allows it to be used on characters that aren't Prinnies in some games such as Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance.

Appearances[]

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness[]

The player receives 3 randomly named Prinnies at the very beginning of the game, as they are part of the Prinny Squad that works for Etna. Despite being the in-story minions of Etna, they do not give her Extra Gain.

Also, while this game internally has six Prinny tiers, only five are used in the game, making the Prinny the only class that has less than six tiers in any Disgaea game.

Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories[]

Adding a new tier to the Prinnies, Disgaea 2 brought the Prinny back as a starting class. Also, any non-story character that chooses the bill 'Reincarnate to Atone for Sins' at the Dark Assembly must reincarnate into a Prinny first, then gain enough mana as a Prinny to reincarnate into another form.

While the overall colors were all reused, some tiers have different colors than in Disgaea 1 (ie, the Prinny God was golden in Disgaea 1, in Disgaea 2, it took on a black color instead).

Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice[]

Main article: Prinny (Disgaea 3)

The Prinny in Disgaea 3 is much like the Prinny in Disgaea 2. They Magichange into Guns. Their exploding ability is now manifested as an Evility and can be acquired by humanoids through Magichange. The player receives one Prinny as part of their default team. Prinnies now no longer only cost 1 HL to heal by default, and this ability must now be acquired by obtaining an Evility.

Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten[]

Main article: Prinny (Disgaea 4)

The Prinny in Disgaea 4 is much like the Prinny in Disgaea 3, only they Magichange into Bows instead of Guns. The player once again gets a single Prinny as part of their default team.
