Power-Leveling with Necromancer[]
Necromancer's Unique Evility will turn any unit she defeats into a zombie with 1 HP. The zombified enemies are weakened but still gave the same amount of EXP and Mana, making it so you can double-kill them for Power-Leveling.
The stage 5-2 works best for this. Set the Enemy Level to 8 in Cheat Shop so they have level 99, and make sure your Necromancer has decent Level (50+), high INT, and at least one +3 spell. If she's not powerful enough, have another character help her (Skull/Mage works best). But remember: your Necromancer has to deal the killing blow.
After setting up the 150% EXP Geo Effect with other characters, have your Necromancer kill a group of 4 enemies in 5-2 with a square-range spell (+3 boosted spells), which will turn them into zombies with 1 HP.
Then take out the unit(s) you want to level up and kill the zombified units for tons of easy EXP and Mana. As long as the unit(s) you're leveling has a decent weapon, they can kill the weakened enemies with ease. Repeat for the other enemies until the stage is cleared.
Advantages of This Method
- Works with Lv. 1 units
Buy any decent weapon for the unit you're leveling (or borrow from your other characters) so they can hit and damage the enemy (Bow, Gun, and magic works best). The zombies have 1 HP, so any weak damage will kill them to nets you EXP and Mana. No need to level them somewhere else first!
- Efficient
By having your Necromancer zombify the enemies, you basically have 2x the amount of enemies to grind in a single stage. No need for complicated setup, either.
- Zombies Are Neutral
The zombies are neutral units, so killing them doesn't count as an 'Ally kill'. There is no Ally Kill count in Disgaea 4, but for those morally concerned, there's no need to worry.
Disadvantages of This Method
- Using Necromancer
To do this, you need to use a Necromancer. This is a strong, yet weird class with a mixed skillset, which may not conform to your playstyle.
She is also a paid DLC class, which can be a problem for those with PS3 version of Disgaea 4.
- Leveling Necromancer
Using this method means you will level your Necromancer ahead of everyone else, regardless of who you want to level. She can end up hogging most of the EXP and Mana, which will leave your other characters always lagging behind her.
Unless you compromise by letting her have the highest LV in your team, this can be problematic.
- Zombies Are Not Enemies
Since the zombified units are neutral, you don't have to kill them to finish the stage.
This means if your Necromancer kill the last enemies on the map, the stage will end. Those last few zombified units with 1 HP cannot be killed by your party and wasted.
And no, setting an attack after your Necromancer kills them doesn't work; it's automatically cancelled since they're not enemies anymore.
To alleviate this, leave 1 enemy alive (not zombified). After all the zombified units are dead, kill the last regular enemy. The stage will end after this, so don't use your Necromancer.
