Monster Mounting is a new feature that replaces Magichange from Disgaea 3 and Disgaea 4. A humanoid character is able to ride on top a Monster allowing the humanoid character to attack on top of the monster while the monster takes damage for the humanoid character.

Mounting

A humanoid character can approach a monster character allowing the humanoid character to mount the monster character. The humanoid character attack on top of the monster while the monster takes damage for the humanoid character. The two characters can also use collaboration attacks. The effectiveness of the Monster's collaboration attack is determined by a heart scale of 1 to 5, the higher the heart scale, the more effective the collaboration attack will be.

Advantages

  • The Monster will take all damage received for the Humanoid character
  • There is no turn limit unlike Magichange
  • Any human can mount any monster without restrictions unlike Magichange from Disgaea 3
  • The humanoid can freely dismount the Monster and be can thrown a certain amount of panels
  • Collaboration Attacks can have Base Powers of A to SS if the Humanoid and Monster have max Likability
  • All Evilities used by the Monster and the Humanoid are in effect at the same time, meaning a player could have powerful combos such as Magic Knight with Attack Weakness and Sadistic for damage while mounting a Monster such as a Sludge with Gel Body and Li'l Sis Aura to reduce all damage by 75% at the same time.
  • A humanoid can mount a Monster an unlimited amount of times in a battle unlike Magichange's limited use.
  • If the Monster dies, the humanoid character will still remain.

Disadvantages

  • Only normal attacks, spells, and Collaboration attacks can be used by the Humanoid while Mounting.
  • Collaboration attacks can be weak if the Humanoid has low likability with the Monster
  • Movement Range is limited to the Monster's movement range, meaning that a human with high movement will not retain his/her movement range if the Monster's Movement range is lower.
  • The Monster or Humanoid does not gain any bonus stats from Mounting unlike Magichange.
