Appearance[edit | edit source]
They are plants with humanoid bodies, arms, and human-like hair with plant-like bulbs. The point at which the legs start is covered up by a ring of leaves and below the ring a spring like tail is seen.
In Disgaea 2 and Disgaea 3, they have a more androgynous body, and their chests are plain, where in Disgaea 4 and Disgaea 5, they have leaves on the edges of their previously not present breasts.
In their default coloration, they have green bodies, with the spring like tail and leaf on their chests appearing with a darker green coloring. They have yellow hair with green and red flower bulbs growing from them. The ring of leaves is red.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Flora Beasts are forest spirits grown from seeds. The Flora Beast's cute appearance is to deceive its enemies. Those who approach end up being strangled by vines. However, there are some so shy they will close themselves up in their petals and refuse to show their faces to anyone.
Though initially thought to be an all female species, with some games outright claiming that they are a female only species in their glossaries, some titles such as Disgaea 2 and Prinny 2 show that the Flora Beast can be born male. This could stem from the biological fact that plants are born with both male and female organs.
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
Despite some games showing off male Flora Beast characters, in the game series they are treated as female characters.

- Main article: Flora Beast (Disgaea 2)
In Disgaea 2, Flora Beast appear on the first map of chapter 4. Their innate ability gives them magical resistance. Their specials are largely divvied up between attack-based, intelligence based and resistance based. Noticeably, they have a high resistance stat, which effectively makes them an offensive/healing class, much like Holy Dragons and Succubi. There is an NPC Flora Beast named Bridget, who is confirmed to be male.

In Disgaea 3, their evilities allow them to heal allied characters as well as boost their elemental resistance; catch is, the ally has to be standing close to them. Their magichange transforms them into a spear; this was carried over into Dark Hero Days.
